Use a predictable structure

Applicant tracking systems vary, so no design can guarantee a particular result. Reduce avoidable ambiguity with a one-column layout, standard section headings, and real text. Clarity and Plain are sensible starting points. Do not place essential contact details only inside an image. Follow the employer’s instruction when it requests a particular file type.

Use relevant terminology honestly

Compare the wording of your skills with the vacancy. When the same term accurately describes your experience, use it naturally in context. Write full qualification or job names where abbreviations might be ambiguous. Do not hide keywords in white text, repeat terms without meaning, or claim abilities you do not have. A readable document should serve a person as well as a parser.

Test the PDF you will actually send

Select and copy the whole document into a plain-text editor. Check whether your name, dates, headings, and bullets appear in the intended order. Verify links and Armenian or Cyrillic characters. Two columns can read differently in different extraction tools, so choose one column when predictable order is more important than visual layout. Keep a version of the exact PDF you submit.
