Translate meaning, not every word
Use a job title that an English-speaking employer will understand, while keeping your actual seniority. Keep institution names recognizable and explain a local qualification briefly when necessary. Avoid literal translations of phrases that sound formal in Armenian or Russian but vague in English. Short active sentences are easier to review and less likely to contain accidental ambiguity.
Make dates and achievements unambiguous
Use month names or month-and-year labels rather than ambiguous numeric day formats. Write “Mar 2023 – Present” consistently. For past roles, use past-tense action verbs; for a current responsibility, present tense can be appropriate. Check articles, plural forms, and punctuation, but do not let polishing hide an unsupported claim. Your results should mean the same thing in every language.
Review language proficiency honestly
State your real working ability in the language section. Do not claim fluent English simply because the CV is translated well. Ask a competent reader to check technical terminology and tone. In ArtResume, the site language and CV language are separate: you can use the Armenian or Russian editor while exporting an English document. Changing CV language translates standard headings, not your written descriptions.
